VALUing Ecosystem Services for environmental assessment (VALUES) is an international research project focused on improving the evaluation of ecosystem services in the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method through the use of an integrated model.
Because of its link to LCA, VALUES' leitmotiv is to serve the design of sustainable development strategies at different technology and service production scales.
Ecosystem Services, sustainability and well-being
Our well-being, as individuals and as a society, highly depends on how we interact with our environment. Ecosystem Services are the benefits that we can retrieve from Nature for our well-being. They have to be preserved as most of them are necessary to our survival, and are irreplaceable.
To concretely and efficiently support the choices of decision-makers, adapted, reliable and consensual assessment methodologies have to be developed.
